SCL Week 6 Wrap-Up

Week 6

In Challenger the last perfect season in SCL fell, as plastikqs played spoiler to c9high, winning 7-3. mastrblastr bounced back from consecutive losses after a 3-0 start to narrowly defeat fancypants 7-5. And dowsey won his third straight, beating bitbandingpig 7-5. bitbandingpig opened 4-0 but has dropped matches to c9high and dowsey respectively, as Challenger sharpens its field. The top five players are all within one point of each other, and nine more are within two of that group.

No matches were played in Iron. When they are, the one to watch will be jecat against mrrgs. The former is tied for first in the division, with the latter just a point back.

In Copper, just one match was played: baldrick defeated gmantsang 7-1 by splitting Ballroom and then winning the final five games. Still not enough matches played in Copper to determine who out of the baldrick-marimosteph group has the inside track on the finals.

In Bronze, catnip handed jyaty his first loss, 7-3 by sweeping Ballroom to open the (casted) match and splitting the rest of the way, and nanthelas beat sgnurf handily 7-1. nanthelas was three points back just two weeks ago, but has won consecutive matches, while jyaty has managed just a tie and a loss. catnip remains two points back, but keeps her finals hopes alive with the victory. Circle her week 10 matchup with nanthelas on your calendar, as it seems very likely to determine at least one finalist spot.

In Silver, yerand defeated teetery 7-3 and wodar beat james1221 7-4 (casted here). Both yerand and wodar remained deadlocked at 5-0-1 at the top of the division. Spotting the third-place teetery a win against checker would still leave them five points back with four matches left. It’ll likely be another week or two before the math becomes impossible for the others, but in all likelihood we already have our Silver finalists.

In Gold, scallions shutout sharper 7-0, and falconhit and elvisnake played live on the Sunday cast, with the former jumping out to a 5-0 start, ultimately winning 7-3.

No Platinum matches were played this week, bringing great shame upon their respective families. Three total matches from previous weeks remaing outstanding, as well. cleetose and slappydavis did complete their week 5 match, however, with cleetose sweeping Ballroom to start the match and hanging on to win 7-4. cleetose is now 4-0-1 through the season’s first half, and seems destined for a showdown with pires for the punishment privilege of advancing to Diamond. Speaking of which…

In Diamond, canadianbacon defeated magician1099 7-4 in a match played a few weeks in advance. After losing to krazycaley in Week 1, canadianbacon is 4-0-1. krazycaley and bloom were unable to schedule their match and will postpone, and kcmmmmm beat warningtrack 7-4, leaving both players 3-3. That match was casted.
